Hello Bio Announces Launch of ValidAbs-TM As Part of Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) in Collaboration with University of Bristol

  • Specialist supplier of high-quality, affordable life science tools, Hello Bio, has launched ValidAbs-TM following a KTP project with the University of Bristol.
  • ValidAbs-TM is a range of highly validated, affordable, data-rich antibodies for use in life science research.
  • The carefully curated range is designed to help improve antibody-driven research in the neuroscience field.

What Hello Bio Does
Hello Bio is a life science company that provides affordable, high-quality biotechnical compounds, reagents and tools to researchers across the globe. The manufacturer and supplier of life science products offers a range of agonists, antagonists, inhibitors, activators, antibodies, and fluorescent tools at a cost-effective comparison to other suppliers.

Partnership With The University of Bristol: ValidAbs-TM
As the result of an ongoing collaboration between Hello Bio and the University of Bristol, the partnership has launched the ValidAb-TM range, designed to help improve research in the field of antibody-driven life science studies. ValidAbs-TM is a range of carefully curated, comprehensively validated primary antibodies that includes neuronal and astrocyte markers, created to help improve research outcomes, reduce animal wastage, and increase trust in the quality of antibody-driven life science studies. The product range is launched alongside detailed information, protocols, and guides to help further support scientists in their research.

Steve Roome (PhD), Managing Director at Hello Bio, said:
“There has been a lot of publicity re the growing 'data reproducibility crisis' affecting scientists today, with research suffering from poorly validated antibodies and the ensuing waste of valuable time in the lab. Our exciting collaboration with the University of Bristol has led us to launch ValidAbs - a highly validated range of data-rich antibodies for life science research. With these antibodies, we can help to improve research outcomes, reduce animal wastage, and increase trust in the quality of antibody-driven life science research.”

Knowledge Transfer Partnership Programme in the UK
The launch from Hello Bio and the University of Bristol is part of a successful Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) – a UK-wide programme which aims to help businesses improve their productivity and competitiveness through better use of technology, knowledge, and skills. The partnership and launch of ValidAbs-TM both have the objective of helping bring innovative, uniquely validated research antibodies to scientists across the globe; as well as improve industry quality standards, and contribute to advancing research into neurodegenerative conditions. This KTP project between Hello Bio and UOB was funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) through Innovate UK.

Elek Molnar, Professor of Neuroscience at the University of Bristol is the knowledge base lead for the KTP. Professor Molnar commented:
“I am delighted that we are able to support Hello Bio with our antibody expertise, enabling them to develop and embed this knowledge within their organisation, and that our collaboration has resulted in the launch of this antibody range. I anticipate that it will have a real impact on scientists and research outcomes in the neuroscience field.”

Dr. Geraint Jones is the Knowledge Transfer Adviser for Greater Bristol and South Wales. Dr. Jones commented:
“KTPs provide companies with in-house full-time Associates for up to three years, supported ½ a day a week by a world-leading academic team to transfer and embed key technologies and processes to underpin growth.  It’s been a pleasure to work with Hello Bio and the University of Bristol, in a partnership that’s really “Prepared for Success”, and I’m sure there is much more to come!”

About Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) aim to help businesses improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, technology, and skills within the UK knowledge base. A KTP serves to identify innovative solutions to help businesses grow, often delivering significant increased profitability for partners as a result. A partnership can help improve quality and operations, increased sales, access to new markets, as well as improved results for social enterprises. This KTP project between Hello Bio and UOB was funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) through Innovate UK.
